What is Microsoft Dynamics 365?

Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a suite of cloud-based business applications that combine CRM (sales, customer service, field service, marketing) and ERP (finance, supply chain, operations). The apps share one data platform — Microsoft Dataverse — and integrate with Microsoft 365, Power Platform, Azure, and Copilot AI. You licence only the apps you need and add more as you grow.

Dynamics 365 FAQs

Is Dynamics 365 a CRM or an ERP?

Both. Dynamics 365 is a suite that includes CRM apps (Sales, Customer Service, Field Service, marketing) and ERP apps (Finance, Supply Chain Management, Business Central). You can use just the CRM side, just the ERP side, or both together on one platform.

How is Dynamics 365 licensed?

Dynamics 365 is licensed per app, per user, with a base-plus-attach model: you pay full price for the first app and a reduced rate for additional qualifying apps for the same user. We help you choose the most cost-effective mix.

What is the difference between Dynamics 365 and the Power Platform?

Dynamics 365 apps are ready-made business applications. The Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, Power Pages) is the low-code toolset used to extend, automate, and report on them. They share the same Dataverse data platform.

Is Dynamics 365 cloud-based?

Primarily, yes. Most Dynamics 365 apps are cloud (SaaS) services that Microsoft updates automatically. Business Central and Finance & Operations also offer on-premise options for specific needs.

Do I have to buy the whole suite?

No. Dynamics 365 is modular. Most businesses start with one or two apps that solve their most pressing need and add more over time.
